More Than Just Paint and Gold: Medini's Tanjore Painting Journey

For Medini, starting her Tanjore painting journey meant finding teachers who not only taught the techniques but also stayed true to the traditional art form.
What began with our Online Lord Krishna course soon led her to enroll in a second online course, painting Goddess Gajalakshmi. Completing two traditional Tanjore paintings from home gave her the confidence that she had started her artistic journey in the right place.

For Medini, starting her Tanjore painting journey meant finding teachers who not only taught the techniques but also stayed true to the traditional art form.
What began with our Online Lord Krishna course soon led her to enroll in a second online course, painting Goddess Gajalakshmi. Completing two traditional Tanjore paintings from home gave her the confidence that she had started her artistic journey in the right place.
Choosing to Learn the Traditional Way
When people decide to learn Tanjore painting, one of the biggest questions is where to begin.
For Medini, learning the traditional method was important from the very start.
She shares,
"If anyone wants to learn Tanjore art, this is the place!"
What stood out to her wasn't just completing a painting—it was learning the art form the way it has been practiced for generations.
According to her,

Traditional Tanjore painting is built on patience, precision, and attention to detail. Learning these techniques correctly from the beginning creates a strong foundation for every painting that follows.
Learning from Home Without Missing the Experience
Medini completed both the Gajalakshmi and Krishna online courses, attending live Zoom classes twice every week.
Each class was interactive, allowing her to learn directly from Vibha while receiving additional guidance from the assistant teacher whenever required.
The recorded sessions also meant she could revisit demonstrations after class, helping her practise each technique at her own pace.
Studying online never meant learning alone.
Instead, it gave her the flexibility of learning from home while still enjoying the structure and guidance of a live classroom.
Why Quality Materials Matter
One part of her experience that left a lasting impression was the quality of the materials used throughout the course.
She says,
"Not to miss the materials and methods used in this are of very high quality which brings out the best in the art!"
In traditional Tanjore painting, the final artwork depends not only on the techniques but also on the quality of every element, from the surface and embossing materials to the stones and gold foil.
Using carefully selected materials helps students achieve results that truly reflect the richness of this centuries-old art form.
One Course Became Two
Perhaps the strongest sign of Medini's experience is that she didn't stop after completing her first painting.
After finishing the Krishna course, she returned to learn another deity, Goddess Gajalakshmi.
Choosing to continue learning speaks volumes about her experience.
Every new painting builds confidence, introduces fresh artistic challenges, and deepens one's understanding of traditional Tanjore art.
