At the Heart of it All: Vibha’s Journey
Tanjore Collective exists because Vibha, a third-generation artist, chose to continue and share the legacy passed down through her family. She learnt the craft from her mother, Vani Bhasker, who in turn learnt it from Vibha’s grand aunt — a lineage that has kept the authentic method alive across generations.
Although Vibha grew up around Tanjavur art, she never expected to teach it. But once she began, she found clarity and purpose in sharing the tradition openly. Her approach is simple and grounded: practise consistently, enjoy the process, and keep a smile through every stage — from preparing the board to placing gold.
Her classes focus on technique, patience, and love for the craft, ensuring students understand not just how to make a Tanjore painting, but how to appreciate every step that goes into it.
