Through 10 weeks of guided online learning, she completed a traditional Tanjore painting of Lord Balaji while experiencing the meditative beauty of every stage of the process.
Discovering the Spiritual Side of Tanjore Painting
As she progressed through the course, she realised that Tanjore painting was not just about colours, strokes, or technique, it became a form of spiritual connection.
“As you said, it is truly a sadhana, but I only understood the depth of that once I started painting myself.”
Every stage of the painting process brought her a sense of calmness and devotion.
“Every single stroke, every color, every detail filled my heart with such deep devotion and peace… it felt like I was connecting spiritually through this art.”
The experience helped her slow down, focus deeply, and emotionally connect with the artwork she was creating.
Learning Through Practice and Patience
Like many students learning Tanjore painting for the first time, she also faced challenges during the process. One of the most difficult elements for her was painting the roses and floral details.
“The most challenging part for me was the roses… I struggled a lot at first.”
However, through regular practice, patience, and guidance from her mentor, she slowly began improving.
“With practice, patience, and remembering your words, they slowly started coming alive.”
That transformation became one of the most rewarding parts of her learning experience.
“That moment gave me so much happiness.”
Understanding the Beauty of Colours and Creativity
One of the teachings that stayed with her throughout the course was the idea of practising freely and learning to “play with colors.”
“You always said ‘practice and play with colors’… earlier I couldn’t fully understand it, but now I truly feel it from my heart.”
As she continued painting, she discovered new details, techniques, and creative possibilities in every session.
“Each time I paint, I discover something new, and it feels so magical.”
The flexibility of the online format, combined with recorded sessions and continuous guidance, helped her comfortably learn from home while progressing steadily through the artwork.

By the end of the course, the experience became much more meaningful than simply completing a painting.
