A clear guide to Tanjore painting course fees: what sets each fee, EMI through Razorpay over 3 to 36 months, the returning-student benefit, how to register and our refund policy.

By Vibha Raj, Founder and Tanjore Artist at Tanjore Collective. Vibha learned the art from her mother, master artist Vani Bhaskar, and leads our studio and its teaching.
Each Tanjore Collective course has its own fee, shown on its course page, and it depends on the size of the painting, the length of the course and the deity. You pay when you register, and on many of our courses you can choose to pay in EMI over 3 to 36 months through Razorpay. Because a seat is reserved for you the moment you book, we follow a strict no-refund policy.
Key takeaways
- Every course page shows its own fee. The fee depends on the painting size, the course duration and the deity.
- EMI over 3 to 36 months is available through Razorpay with major banks, including HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Axis, Kotak and American Express.
- Students who come back for another course with us receive a returning-student benefit.
- We have a strict no-refund policy, because each booking reserves a seat that we hold only for you.
- In 40 years we've taught more than 5,000 students, and most began as complete beginners.
Talking about fees can feel a little awkward. You've found a deity you love, you've pictured her in your pooja room, and then there's the practical question: how do I actually pay for this? It's a fair question, and a sensible one to ask before you commit to weeks of learning. So here's everything, plainly, the way we'd explain it if you rang the studio.
If you'd like to see what our courses cost by format first (online, studio and DIY), our guide to Tanjore painting class fees covers that. This post is about the next step: how course fees work, paying in EMI, and what happens once you register.
How do Tanjore painting course fees work?
Every course has its own fee, listed on its course page. It's set by three things: the size of the painting, the duration of the course and the deity you're painting.
That's why two courses can carry different fees even in the same month. A single central deity on a smaller board, taught over 6.5 weeks, takes less time to teach than a detailed Lord Balaji over about 11 weeks. Many courses also let you choose between two sizes, and the fee changes with the size you pick. You'll see the exact fee for each option on the course page before you register.
| What shapes the fee | How it shows up |
|---|---|
| Painting size | Courses run from 10 x 12 up to 18 x 24 inches. A larger board means more relief, more gold and more painting. |
| Course duration | Most live courses run 6.5 weeks; advanced subjects run 10 to 11 weeks, with two sessions a week. |
| The deity | More detailed compositions, like Lakshmi Narasimha or Balaji, take longer to teach well. |
| Format | Live online, studio in Bangalore, or self-paced DIY video. Each has its own course page and fee. |
What about materials?
We provide the materials kit for your course. Our Essentials Material Kit is ₹4,000 and has everything you need: a pre-sketched canvas, 24 karat gold sheets, Arabic gum, chalk powder, kundan stones, original Swarovski crystals and four premium brushes. It's shipped to you via FedEx. Each course page shows how the kit works for that particular course, so you'll know before you pay.
Can you pay Tanjore painting course fees in EMI?
Yes. On courses where EMI is available, you can spread your course fee over 3 to 36 months through Razorpay, with major banks including HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Axis, Kotak and American Express.
You'll see the EMI option at checkout when you register. Choose your bank and the number of months that suits you, and the payment is split into monthly instalments. The exact EMI terms come from your bank, so it's worth checking them at checkout.
We offer EMI because we'd never want the fee to be the only thing standing between you and this art. It especially helps with our longer courses. A Lord Balaji or Lakshmi Narasimha course is a bigger commitment, and paying for it month by month can make it feel far more within reach.
Is there a benefit for returning students?
Yes. When you come back to learn another deity with us, you receive a returning-student benefit on your next course.
Many of our students do return. They finish a Ganesha or a Gajalakshmi, fall a little in love with the gold and the stillness of it, and want to paint a second deity, then a third. Each painting builds on the last, and we love watching that happen. If you've learned with us before, just mention it when you register, or ask us, and we'll tell you how the benefit applies to the course you've chosen.
Watch: a glimpse of our studio courses
Here's what a course with us looks like, from the first lines on the canvas to students working side by side.
How do you register and pay for a course?
Choose your course, select your painting size, and pay the fee on the course page, either in full or in EMI where it's offered. Your seat is reserved as soon as your payment goes through.
- Pick your course. See every upcoming batch, with dates, deities and durations, in our Tanjore painting course dates guide, or browse all our classes.
- Choose your size. Where a course offers two sizes, pick the one you'd like. The fee updates with your choice.
- Pay the course fee. Pay in full, or choose EMI at checkout on courses where it's available.
- Get ready for class. Your kit is shipped to you, and you'll receive everything you need to join your first session.
Not sure which format suits you? Our guide to online, studio and DIY classes explains the difference.
What is the refund policy?
We have a strict no-refund policy. Once you book, we reserve a seat in that batch for you and turn away other bookings for it, so we can't offer refunds, rescheduling or cancellations for courses.
We know that can sound firm, so here's the reason behind it. Each batch has a set number of seats, planned around how we teach. When you register, that seat is genuinely yours, and holding it means someone else doesn't get it. If students moved between batches, it would become very hard to keep each class the right size for proper, personal guidance.
There is one exception. If we're unable to provide the materials kit you need for your course and can't arrange an alternative, we'll issue a refund. In that case, the product should be unused, the request should be raised within 3 days of delivery, and return shipping is borne by you. Once we receive the product back, the refund is made within 8 to 10 working days. You can read the full wording in our refund policy.
So our gentle advice is simple: take your time choosing. Look at the dates, check your calendar, and pick the batch you can truly commit to. If you have any doubts, ask us before you register. We're always happy to help you find the right fit.
Frequently asked questions
How do I pay the course fee?
You pay on the course page when you register, either in full or in EMI on courses where EMI is offered. The fee shown depends on the course and the painting size you choose.
Do you offer EMI?
Yes. On eligible courses, you can pay over 3 to 36 months through Razorpay, with major banks including HDFC, ICICI, SBI, Axis, Kotak and American Express. You'll see the option at checkout.
Do you offer refunds?
No. We have a strict no-refund policy, and we can't reschedule or cancel a course once it's booked, because your seat is reserved only for you. The one exception is if we can't provide the materials kit for your course and can't arrange an alternative.
Why do course fees vary?
Each fee reflects the painting size, the course duration and the deity. A larger, more detailed painting over a longer course naturally carries a higher fee.
Do returning students get a benefit?
Yes. If you've learned with us before, you receive a returning-student benefit on your next course. Mention it when you register, or ask us, and we'll explain how it applies.
