For Mahitha S., Tanjore painting had always been an art form she admired from afar. Its intricate craftsmanship and spiritual essence fascinated her, but like many beginners, she felt the detailed work made it difficult to attempt on her own.
That changed when she enrolled in Tanjore Collective's Live Online Lalitha Devi Course in 2024. Over 6.5 weeks, she learnt the traditional process step by step and completed her first Tanjore painting, a beautiful 12" × 15" painting of Goddess Lalitha Devi.

That changed when she enrolled in Tanjore Collective's Live Online Lalitha Devi Course in 2024. Over 6.5 weeks, she learnt the traditional process step by step and completed her first Tanjore painting, a beautiful 12" × 15" painting of Goddess Lalitha Devi.
The Beauty of Tanjore Painting Can Feel Intimidating
One of the reasons Tanjore painting has remained admired for centuries is because of the skill involved.
From embossing work to laying gold foil and painting intricate details, every stage demands patience and precision.

Discovering That Every Masterpiece Begins One Step at a Time
Mahitha joined our October 2024 batch of the Live Online Lalitha Devi Course.
Over six and a half weeks, students met twice a week on Zoom while working on a 12" × 15" Lalitha Devi painting. Each student also received a complete materials kit before the course began, allowing them to focus entirely on learning.
Rather than expecting students to figure things out themselves, every stage of the painting was demonstrated live, explained in detail, and completed together.
What initially looked overwhelming slowly became approachable.
Learning With Guidance Makes All the Difference
